Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Serguei T — 15 Nov 2017
When you have a whodunit that was solved 80 years ago, you need something to keep people entertained because there's no mystery. You know that Titanic will sink. You know that Romeo and Juliet will commit suicide. You know Charles Foster Kane dies. Do something about it. And that's where Murder on the Orient Express fails. There are a few changes compared to the original, but they are useless and pointless. They add some mystery, like a shooting scene. The mystery is in finding the answer to "who in their mind thought this is a good idea?".
The whole movie just looks like a vanity project of Kenneth Branagh. Good cinematography. Good acting. No essence.
