Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Scott B — 16 Nov 2017
I wish, and probably so do other Old Geezers Who Go To The Matinee Alone, that this movie had been better. Unfortunately it goes more for style than substance. It has a stellar cast but no one stands out; Judi Dench is sadly wasted in a minor role.
The camera work is, at times, way too artsy for this type of movie; it made me dizzy in some scenes. I am not a fan of Agatha Christie and unfortunately this movie sticks way too much to the book which has a complicated and frankly unbelievable story line.
The scenery is spectacular and probably the best thing about the movie. I do not recommend it fully, but it's good in places.
