Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Astor_ — 09 Aug 2018
Murder on the Orient Express is a mystery drama film directed by Kenneth Branagh with a screenplay by Michael Green, based on the 1934 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. The plot follows Poirot, a world-renowned detective, as he seeks to solve a murder on the famous trans-European train in the 1930s.
Detective based mystery murder cases usually make for good plots. However, the film brought out the storytelling in an old fashioned way, much like a 60s, 70s movie. I would say this film takes itself too seriously for its own good. There is not a single light or funny moment in the entire film. Other than the mystery to find the murderer on the train, there really isn't anything much to the film.
