Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Kathryn K — 25 Nov 2017
The negative reviews of this movie miss the point of going to see a movie on holiday afternoon, to escape into a beautifully filmed mystery with clever dialogue and a terrific cast. All the stuffed shirts who are old enough to have seen the original and are lamenting the remake, now FOURTY SEVEN years old, need to lighten, grab a box of popcorn and enjoy watching Kenneth Branagh completely disappear into an endearing Hercule Poirot.
My eleven year old daughter delighted in every twist and turn and appreciated the excitement of being taken back to an era where people dressed for dinner, and 48 people weren't killed in the first 10 minutes of the film. It also encouraged a discussion about justice. Go have a blast and let the people who didn't get it put on a moth eaten cardigan and watch the 1974 film. We cannot wait until Death on The Nile comes back with Branagh.
