Favorite line: "I don't want my kids to think you gotta hit a guy twenty times to kill him." This is pitch-perfect noir with all the complex motivations and dirty double-bluffs you expect from Chandler.
Not quite as good as "The Big Sleep," but it's about as close as they come.
