Review of Murder in the First (1995) by George O — 02 Jul 2006
Kevin Bacon is truly brilliant in this moving biopic drama. His portrayal of the man who was kept in solitary confinement for over 3 years after trying to escape alcatraz is more than remarkable, as his physicality and vocal skills are accurate to the very degree.
Had the film, as a whole, been slightly better, it could have been recognised for an oscar. However, it is the unremarkable direction and mundane acting from some of the supporting cast that make this film less than it could have been.
