If you like Shawshank Redemption and think THAT was the best prison movie ever made.....watch this. It's better.
Not only is the acting top notch (did Bacon get any sort of Oscar nomination for this, because he bloody should have done?!?) but it's based on a true story.
It's not 'Hollywood Schmaltz' at the end either (unlike Shawshank) and may well bring a tear to your eye. It almost did me the first time I watched it about 10yrs or so ago.
This deserves to be a more well known movie than it is. Stunning piece of work.
