Review of Murder by Decree (1979) by Michael S — 04 Dec 2018
Christopher Plummer and James Mason as Holmes and Watson are unmatched. There's genuine chemistry here, and they understand each other in touching ways. The film is beautiful, well done all around, and has high-powered stars stuffed into the cast, including Anthony Quayle, Donald Sutherland and Frank Finlay.
Claustrophobic settings in the London fog add to the sinister ambience, and there's still room for dry, wonderful British humor. A great film.
