Review of Murder by Death (1976) by Eric H — 28 Jun 2013
I have loved this movie from the very first moment I saw it for a number of reasons. First a very well-written spoof of murder mysteries with some top-notch jokes and some not so top-notch jokes. But when you look at the whole you are very pleasantly surprised and you will enjoy this project over and over again.
The story effectively parodies the Agatha Christie mold of murder mysteries set in mansions. There are a number of eccentric turns that support the film's performances and keep the story amusing. Ultimately the mystery itself proves interesting even though its primary function is to facilitate the cast's enjoyable performances.
"Murder by Death" is an excellent comedy for those that want to see the mystery genre portrayed in a humorous light.
