Review of Murder Ahoy (1964) by Cj C — 22 Jan 2012
Miss Marple: "Then what are you implying, pray?
Det. Insp. Craddock: Well, just that you are temporarily not yourself.
Miss Marple: Chief Inspector, I am *always* myself!".
My least fave of the Marple series only because Lionel Jeffries is the comedy relief, not Margaret Rutherford. Did you know that Margaret Rutherford was known to wear her own clothes during shooting and Mr.Stringer was Stringer Davis her real husband?
I also read that her father suffered from mental illness even before she was born (he murdered his own father, Margaret's grandfather) & her pregnant mother committed suicide in India when Margaret was only 3. Margaret went on to suffer from depression in life and received shock therapy treatments during the time of these Miss Marple films. Such a sad life.
