Review of Murder 2 (2011) by Imon S — 31 Aug 2011
I adore Emraan Hashmi, so I was literally jumping up and down with excitement to watch this movie while it was downloading and started it the moment the download finished. My expectations were high - they always are for Emraan, though it's silly, because 40% of the time, he lets me down.
Haha. The concept for this movie was brilliant. The acting was great. Then what was the problem? Character development. There was no explanation for why Jaqueline and Emraan's characters were so tortured.
They just were. They were two screw-ups who liked to get it on. Except Jaqueline loved Emraan, while he was just having a good time.....except it looked like Jaqueline was having a good time and Emraan was in love with her.
ERM. Okay. Then you have your super villain. Why is he a super villain, you ask? Well, he kills girls, of course! But why does he kill girls? Because he hates women! Why does he hate women? I have no idea.
That wasn't explained, except in a warped, weird sort of dream we're subjected to watch, which really didn't explain anything at all. Anyways, that's the only fault of this movie - characterization.
And it's a pretty large flaw, which managed to tarnish a large part of the viewing experience. The performances are really great, especially that of Prashant, who was intensely creepy. Emraan did a great job as well.
Jaqueline is hot, but is a non-actress. I would definitely say it's worth a watch and it's something new for Bollywood.
