Review of Muppets Most Wanted (2014) by Evan C — 16 May 2015

At the beginning of ''Muppets Most Wanted'', there is a musical number about sequels, and how irrelevant but yet fun they are. 'Toy Story 4' is even mentioned in the lyrics. This basically set me up to know that the film I was about to see was going to be a wise comedy, and as we pay attention to the plot line of the movie, it is just another Muppet adventure. Sadly, while its story is not exactly interesting, I must say, I am proud at what I saw.

You may not realize it, but kids aren't stupid. Sometimes, they want to think while watching a movie, and sometimes, thinking is better than watching animated characters goofing off and performing fart jokes on the screen. In Muppets Most Wanted, we are given a story that a child will enjoy, they will laugh at, they will smile at, and even better: they can think.

When I say think, they can enjoy a mystery that is not too complicated, not too confusing, and the best part is, they can make their own conclusions, while they can still enjoy beautiful and hilarious performances from the Muppets. To me, that's better than educational television.

I'll admit, the story, in which I have described above as a fresh and fun story for kids, may not be as fresh as the films predecessor. During The Muppets from 2011, I got to enjoy an excellent example of perfect storytelling and humor. In Muppets Most Wanted, I got to enjoy a fun story with entertaining musical numbers, but it just wasn't as short and sweet like the first film.

Muppets Most Wanted reminds me of ''Cars 2'' (2011), where it's predecessor is so sweet and simple. You may even call it cute. When it's sequel, Cars 2, arrived, it wasn't sweet and simple. It was an odd story that included funny elements, but is just a random plot that didn't exactly need to happen at all. I guess that's what you can say about Muppets Most Wanted, but you have to look at it in the right light, and if you ask me, I'd recommend it as it is a good adventure with a marvelous cast.
