Review of Muppet Treasure Island (1996) by Tyler B — 10 Mar 2008
Quite simply, and all jokes aside, I think this movie is brilliant. It is definatly the best of all the Muppet movies I've seen (leaving out only The Great Muppet Caper, I believe). The over the top humor and great songs makes most of the 70's and 80's Muppet movies look awful.
No disrespect to Jim Henson, but his son Brian and Frank Oz obviously handled the franchise pretty well (well, if you can ignore a little catastrophe called the Muppet Wizard of Oz). The songs are awesome, Tim Curry rocks, and I defy you to watch the "Jimmy Jim Jim Jimmy Jim Jim" scene without convulsing to the floor with laughter.
I rest my case.
