Review of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003) by Kartika D — 17 Apr 2007
A pure, unadulterated comedy that's stolen the hearts of a nation! The script is good, and combined with the sheer acting brilliance of Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi as MunnaBhai and Circuit, packs a powerful punch.
The story revolves around a local gunda named MunnaBhai, who keeps his parents under the false impression that he is a doctor in order to make them proud. But when his secret is revealed by the mean Dr.
J.J. Asthana, played by the magnificent Boman Irani, he embarks on a mission to complete his education and become a doctor, with a few shortcut practices of course! The script is wonderfully simple, yet Munna's "jadoo-ki-jhappi" warms the audience's hearts and makes the audience fall in love with him! The film generates countless laughs through the endless stream of humour that flows throughout, but still manages to draw a tear in the most tender scenes.
Full marks to the director for producing a wonderful movie indeed!
