Review of Munich (2005) by Edgar C — 08 Oct 2009
Spielberg is to be commended and admired for his masterful handling of such heady topics. Realistic, chaotic, unprovoked violence will always be more powerful and impressionable than even the most stylized of violence.
The film increases in intensity as it goes on when depicting the moral struggle of justifying revenge and vengeance and its irremovable presence for all of mankind's existence. The powerful performances, washed-out but distinct cinematography and locations, together with Spielberg's adept use of comedy, drama, and thrill and John Williams' effectively simple music add up to be, for me, one of Spielberg's best and most mature efforts.
