Review of Munich (2005) by James O — 04 Jun 2011
A film that never knew how to end.
Musings circa 2006:
This is one of the reasons I liked the first two acts of Munich so much. Strange morality pervades these acts as no definitive line of morality is handed out. Lifelike scenes occur where villains the protagonist has never observed, but must assassinate, garner much resonance as they exchange everyday niceties with him. Are these people evil? Does their assassination further his cause or allow it to spiral out of control? The line of good and bad spirals out of control, until our hero is left in a murky middle ground known as life. Unfortunately Speilberg forgoes the finale in which a villain unknown to us with no immediate reasoning would kill Eric Bana. Instead we head for a realm of sap that only leads to the most terrifying orgasm ever. Im not sure going into Munich I expected that the image that would engrain itself on my mind was Eric Bana ejaculating to the Munich Olympic Massacre.
