Review of Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008) by Rohit N — 03 Sep 2008
This is one of the best movies I have ever watched. I was really impressed by the simplicity of the movie. Every character was so convincing in the movie. I especially liked Paresh Rawal's character and his dialouges, however simple yet so power. Kay Kay Menon does a phenominal job in his role. Madhavan is very convincing in his act of a true patriot and a strong believer in keeping the city clean and how his principles are shaken after the blasts. Irfan Khan does much not many dialogues but succeeds in convincing everyone of the state of a common man in India. Soha Ali Khan's character really reflects the state of the journalism in India and how they extract on people's misery.
The scene that got me full of emotion was when Madhavan is sitting with his friend and talking about going to the US and how it is much safer, and his friend replies how it is the same everywhere. The shots shown during those dialogues really hits you where it hurts the most.
The movie concentrates on events of days after the blasts and how it affected their lives individually. I would recommend everyone to watch this movie.
