Review of Mulholland Falls (1996) by Tom H — 15 Sep 2007
There's a lot of good in this movie that feels like a combination of "The Untouchables" and "Chinatown" set in post-war L.A. A great cast of some of the most hard-boiled, macho actors are let down ultimately by a screenplay that feels at once too complicated and lacking in substance.
As an homage to the film noir trappings of the 1940s, it is exactly that, and no more.
