Review of Mulholland Dr. (1999) by Evan K — 27 Jun 2011
I don't know where to rate this because every time I see it I like it more and more. At first I really didn't like this film, I found it offensive and strange, scarcely filled with some good techniques.
Now, after seeing more of Lynch's work and watching it again and again, I easily understand what is going on and I am amazed by the style change and sound design. This is one of the best articulated films out there if you deconstruct it.
It is even funny in how pretensious and elitist in its ideologies, but somehow Lynch backs up these ideas and wraps the audience into believing them. Like the nature of acting and sytle as cinematic keys, yada yada, later.
