In this sequel, we find Mulan and General Shang (again voiced wonderfully by Ming-Na Wen and B.D. Wong) back from their battles with the army, and newly engaged. But first, they must go on a mission to safely transport three Chinese princesses to their arranged marriages to Mongol princes. We see Mulan as less of an ingenue, and more of a young sage, acting as a role model of modern womanhood for the sheltered princesses. The characters struggle with their duties in life, and weigh them against their own wishes.

"Mulan II" delivers a new lens into the lives of Mulan and Shang, as well as some commendable musical numbers (some of which were based on songs from the original). However, it does have that "sequel"-ish quality about it, as characters and plot are a little more skimmed; it has a bit less heart than the original. But I really enjoyed this movie and recommend it for kids, as well as adults that enjoyed the original.
