Review of Mulan (1998) by Ferdinando L — 21 Aug 2011
The story of Mulan is like most of Disney's films (excluding Pixar) not very original - the gender change, love, failure, redemption,... it also has the inevitable comedy relief character with no particular reason to exist but to bring some cheap laughs. Quite a typical Disney flick in a nutshell.
But their formula worked for decades and so it did here - beside the nice animation work, it features some interesting characters (Mulan herself and her fellow soldiers) and an unusual setting (medieval China) which brings some exotic touches. Solid entertainment.
