Review of Mulan (1998) by Panta O — 10 Oct 2011
Okay, I'm a sucker for all things oriental, so of course I like this movie, but it's a good movie even if you're not crazy about all things zen like I am. The film is one of Disney's last classics - the quality took a rather big drop shortly after this one, but this one's still an all-around classic.
It has great story, beautiful art style, good humor, excellent character - Shan Yu is especially intimidating as the leader of the Huns - and it's just damn enjoyable to watch. Though I have to admit that I detest Mushu.
He's just so over the top and not in a good way. Plus his voice is annoying, though I don't normally have anything against Eddie Murphy. And he's a selfish bastard with few redeeming qualities.
So yeah, I love Disney and I love this one. Nothing more really that can be said about this film. Give it a try if you haven't watched it.
