Review of Mulan (1998) by Ryan V — 13 Mar 2012
Mulan is about a feudal Chinese peasant girl (Ming Na-Wen) who impersonates a male soldier in order to keep her infirm father from getting drafted. While serving her country she is assisted by a tiny dragon (Eddie Murphy) and manages to befriend a stern military captain (B.
D. Wong). This film doesn't have the same quality of the earlier movies in the "Disney Renaissance", but it still contains a solid amount of laughs, heart, and appealing animation. Those who haven't seen it since they were kids will find that it has aged quite gracefully.
