Review of Mughal-e-Azam (1960) by Kat K — 02 Oct 2010
MUGHAL-E-AZAM (1960) - this is the greatest epic in the history of Indian cinema - directed by the great K. Asif. It is the GONE WITH THE WIND of India. Lush and lavish - a true spectacle. K.Asif had always wanted this film to be in colour but at the time that was not a possibility - it was re-released in colour in 2008.
A wonderous vision it is!!! Dilip Kumar is so handsome as Prince Salim. The songs are magical - the sets are unbelievably beautiful. The subtitles are at times a bit off (mis-spelled and probably mis-translated) but I became so spellbound by the visuals that I wasn't really reading the sub-titles anyway.
