Review of Mudbound (2017) by Yash B — 31 Dec 2017
"Mudbound" is a drama in every sense of the word. It can be a slow moving movie, but I was interested in it the whole way through. It has a lot of things going on and doesn't really focus up until the last act, but that makes it feel more natural and real.
The performances are all very good and convincing and the movie does a good job of transporting you back into that time period. It's a movie about racial tensions told in a very different way. There are moments that are very tough to watch but there are also moments that give off a hopeful feel.
It is a unique take on the subject that is very compelling.
