Review of Mudbound (2017) by Matt G — 29 Jan 2018

There's a beautiful grunginess in this WWII movie, full of muddy visuals and muddier characters, about a black soldier and a white soldier returning to their hierarchical hometown. Unfortunately, it spends way too much of its runtime reaching past that central narrative into things that aren't pertinent.

Nonetheless, it looks great and the performances are on point...and the last 20 minutes really put the previous 2 hours in a proper light. In the end, it's a whole heaping mudpile of "fine".
