Review of Mudbound (2017) by Martin G — 06 Dec 2017
This Netflix original is very well crafted. Its story covers so many aspects of the human condition from poverty, indentured servitude and exploitation to the daily struggle to survive. The film covers life post Great Depression and focuses on land in Mississippi where a white family tries to eek out a living with the help of a black family working the same land, but subservient to the white family.
The Ku Klux Klan, the Old South, the New South, PTSD are all addressed. The cast is superb throughout.
