Review of Mud (2013) by Edgar C — 19 Apr 2014
A masterfully shot, deliberately paced coming-of-age film that never assumes it's audience is stupid. Commenting on the grey world in which most of us live between childhood naivety and senior citizen world weariness, Nichols rarely if ever becomes too heavy handed as he tells the story of two normal boys who embark on an adventure.
.. and actually find one. Matthew McConaughey's role as the titular character is a career-defining performance that is sure to become iconic. Best movie of the year up to this point.
