Review of Mud (2013) by Hugo P — 30 May 2014
Once again Matthew Mcconaughey gives a great performance in this coming of age tale. I am shocked that this film was not nominated for any awards, I thought it should have been nominated for Oscars. Best Actor for Tye Sheridan, and I thought Mcconaughey should have, not only been nominated, but I think won for Best Supporting Actor.
Heck, the film itself should have gotten nominated for best picture. The performances are beyond great. This is one of the most realistic depiction of how teenagers talk and act. It's a movie about love, it's not a romantic movie like The Notebook, or some silly Nicholas Sparks movie.
I was never bored watching this movie. I was invested into the story, while being entertained. I thought I was going to be bored before watching the movie. I heard great things about it, but I thought I was going to be really bored.
But I wasn't. I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. My complaints are that I didn't really get involved until about fifteen minutes in. It did take a while to get invested. I didn't really like the mother, I don't want to say bland but she I wasn't as emotionally invested in her character as much as the others.
Now who would like it? I think people who want a good movie would like it. Anyone who likes coming of age tales. If you're a fan of Matthew then this is Once again Matthew Mcconaughey gives a great performance in this coming of age tale.

Anyone who just wants to see great performances. Who wouldn't like it? People that hate slow pacing. People who want excitement all the time who want to get pumped up with adrenaline. Anyone who hates themes about love.
Other than that I thought this was a near perfect movie. One of my favorites of 2013. That's why I give this movie a 5/5.
