"Lighthearted to a fault" - hardly the way I read it.. I assumed, at least from the first third, that this may be one of the most acerbic and cynical plays Shakespeare ever wrote - & it's a 'comedy' (& I've seen it in various interpretations).
. by the by, absolutely loved the setting - the house...
