Review of Much Ado About Nothing (2013) by Ryan V — 01 Jul 2013
The Bard's famous romantic comedy gets a stylishly noir-tinted treatment by director Joss Whedon. The photography for each scene is impeccable, but it's matched by endearing performances from an excellent cast.
Standouts include Clark Gregg's lively Leonato, Nathan Fillion's doofish Dogberry, Alexis Denisof's conflicted Benedick, and especially Amy Acker's pointed Beatrice. As my star rating attests, I was swept up in the charm and momentum of this movie.
I think it's the finest cinematic reading of Shakespeare since Olivier's day.
