Review of Much Ado About Nothing (2013) by Todd S — 15 Aug 2013
( My grade A- ) At first it was hard to follow what was going on in MAAN because the original text from this Shakespeare classic was used, but I quickly adapted and the fun began. Fun is the best way to describe "Much Ado About Nothing," which reminded me of a show about nothing, Seinfeld, only w/ lots more romance and lighthearted whimsy.
I dare anyone to resist this charmingly absurd love story/battle between Beatrice & Benedick amidst the backdrop of wedding planning, drunken pool parties, & bumbling detectives. All current rom-coms today have sprung from MAAN but none have done it better.
Also as a fanboy of "The Wheedonverse" I was thrilled to death that he cast stars from Buffy, Angel, Firefly, & Dollhouse. Was like a weekend holiday w/ old friends. Chrissy from "Growing Pains" was in it too!
