Review of Much Ado About Nothing (1993) by Kathryn B — 29 Jul 2008
This is the first Shakespeare film I ever watched, and my favorite Shakespeare film I have watched. For me, this has all the best parts of the Bard's comedies: snappy dialogue, charming characters, a fun plot, just enough sadness, and a blissfully happy ending.
This film makes the most of all of these things, and improves on them, what with an old school score by Peter Doyle, a beautiful Italian villa setting, and two of my favorite actors (Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh).
This film is one of the best Shakespeare adaptations out there, and a must see for any fan.
