Review of Much Ado About Nothing (1993) by Cade L — 13 Oct 2008

I can't imagine how much fun it must have been filming this movie. Alas, even though Branagh and Thompson didn't last together in real life, you can sense how real their connection was when they made this film.

Branagh of course does another marvelous job adapting a Shakespeare play into a well-done film in its own right. All of the actors fill their roles well (Reeves being mercifully not-awful...and for that matter barely in the movie anyway).

Thompson and Branagh are endlessly charming as are Washington, Keaton and the rest of the cast. there are border-line musical numbers that are not horrid, and actually nice. The setting was absolutely perfect and beautiful.

I wish there were more adaptations like this out there.
