Review of Much Ado About Nothing (1993) by Brian G — 12 Dec 2009
Emma Thompson is fantastic as Beatrice, and Kenneth Branagh is surprisingly hilarious as Benedick. My main gripe is Robert Sean Leonard as Claudio--I have a really hard time feeling sorry for him AT ALL.
Also, Keanu Reeves is laughable, in the worst possible way, as Don John. But the direction, the cinematography, and the other members of the supporting cast (Denzel! Michael Keaton!) totally make up for these two dim spots.
A wonderful adaptation of the play.
