Review of Much Ado About Nothing (1993) by Ann Q — 22 Mar 2011
A really good cast, except for a couple of characters. I think everyone agrees that Denzel Washington and Keanu Reeves are not first two people that come to mind at "shakespeare". Still, I have to say I enjoyed the acting.
Emma Thompson was brilliant as always and I actually quite enjoyed Kenneth Branagh's performance. As for the film itself, the beginning was very slow. The film quality itslef also seemed inconsistent.
At some points, it seemed like the movie was being filmed with a regular video camera. But nevertheless, the humour was good. Not my favorite adaptation, but still enjoyable to a certain degree.
