Review of Mrs. Henderson Presents (2005) by Joel M — 01 Oct 2008
Mr. Mesa (yours truly) presents his film review of "Mrs. Henderson Presents". Judi Dench stars (I wonder who) of course Mrs. Laura Henderson, a wealthy widower who decides to buy an old London theatre and opens it up as The Windmill.
Bob Hoskins plays Vivian Van Damn, a fiery Theatre Manager who does not give a "Van Damn" of what Mrs. Henderson has to say and obviously butt heads with her. Mrs. Henderson's "Preparation H" plan for The Windmill is to turn it into an all-nude revue.
That streaking plan eventually keeps The Windmill rolling with financial success. Veteran Director Stephen Frears did exhibit no fear by orchestrating some comical argumentative scenes between Henderson and Van Damn.
However, Frears' raw footage of the theatrical scenes were definitely overexposed. David & Kathy Rose's scribe was turning up rosy at times but disintegrating at others. Dench and Hoskins were once again positively presentable with their acting skills as the protagonists of "Mrs.
Henderson Presents". I do think that the film is "barely" fanciful enough for you to present yourself at its viewing site, and that is the naked truth! *** Average.
