Review of Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) by Sherry L — 18 Jun 2014
This is just a perfect family comedy starring comedian Robin Williams, Sally Field, and Pierce Brosnan.
*Daniel Hillard is a fun and bubbly family man who loves his three children and wife over anything else on this world. He's been working for some time as giving voice in animated movies. After a minor disagreement, Daniel quits his job, while his wife Miranda continues making her career as a hot-shot professional interior decorator. Miranda is getting tired of all the arguments that's been progressing for years, and feeling like she's married to a big child.
Hell breaks loose when Daniel wants to surprise his son with the best party of his life. Having hired lots of animals from a zoo, playing music so almost the roof lifts, and the whole neighborhood.
The divorce becomes a fact, and Daniel is beyond devastated after the infectious custody battle, when learning that he will only get to meet his darling children a couple of hours, once a week.
When he learns that his now ex-wife is looking for a housemaid, he gets a crazy idea...; he happen to have a brother who is a professional make up artist, so during one day Daniel Hillard becomes "Mrs. Doubtfire"!
Mrs Doubtfire is the new housemaid for the family, so now he can be with his children all the time!
All seems well... that is until a new suitor, a real Mr. Perfect (played by Pierce Brosnan) starts lurking by the family...*.
Directed by Chris Columbus, the man behind the Home Alone-movies (those with Macaulay Culkin) and two of the first Harry Potter-movies.
This is a wonderful comedy with dozens of hilarious scenes, you can watch with your whole family!
(Pity though, they are threatening to release a sequel to this, next year....).
