Review of Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) by Bonnie R — 23 Aug 2014
It was his turn to win Best Actor. The academy didn't take him seriously. Maybe because he refused to be a part of the Hollywood glitz and choose innstead the REAL life of San Francisco.
It never ceases to amaze me how wrong the academy has been and will always be. 30% right is not a winning number., but Williams certainly was in Mrs. Doubtfire. A great dramedy often confused by Hollywood to merely be a comedy.
Only Richard Dreyfus outwitted them in latter years. In the beginning, only comedic actors won this coveted prize: Claudette Colbert to name just one.
Anyone who can watch this film without laughing and crying needs to see a shrink.
