Review of Mrs. Brown's Boys D'Movie (2014) by Liam D — 26 Jun 2014
If ever there was a tv series that divides opinion between critics and joe public it is this one. Critics over the years have largely slammed it for being too crude and therefore in their opinion the gags misfire.
But the bad language is actually relatively minor compared to moments of genuine hilarity and in this movie version the gags hit like a dart. Brendan o'carrolls creation has in my opinion always been a masterstroke of genius as having created his character in such a way that he has he has created a character that can mix genuine comedy with great moments of sadness and never make you lose interest. Much more than an extended episode of the tv series this manages to stand out as a great comedy film all on its own. A word of advice though dont leave when the end credits start as there is a little bonus at the end. Wonderfully funny.
