Review of Mrs. Ashboro's Cat (2003) by Chaffee C — 03 Oct 2014
Ellen Page stars in the Animal Planet original film Ghost Cat. A young teenager named Natalie starts to believe that the spirit of a dead cat is trying to tell her something from the beyond when she experiences a number of odd occurrences at her new house; meanwhile a land developer attempts to shut down an animal shelter that she volunteers at.
The film really feels like it's pandering to animal lovers with the B story about the shelter, and the writing is really simplistic. Additionally, the performances are rather wooden and colorless.
A contrived and formulaic kid's film, Ghost Cat is extraordinarily tame and unfulfilling.
