Review of Mr. Woodcock (2007) by Nick O — 27 Jul 2011
Billy Bob Thornton channels his character from "Bad Santa" and shoves it into a gym teacher's body in this below average comedy - "Mr. Woodcock". It takes off quickly at the beginning with some good laughs, but flames out as most of the funny material was shown off in the previews.
Thornton is his usual self, but there just doesn't seem to be all that chemistry there at all between he and William Scott. Susan Sarandon strangely enamored herself to me in this film as a MILF, but Amy Poehler's character seemed to be more annoying than useful. The send up to end the film seemed too convenient and just didn't really leave you feeling satisfied. If you're a "Bad Santa" fan of Thornton you might like this, but otherwise I'd probably skip this paltry feature.
