Review of Mr. Woodcock (2007) by Ven E — 12 Aug 2009
1) The conception of Scott's self-help book were constantly repeated to the point that it became a drag. I couldn't stand it. Yet, it was obvious that Scott wasn't able to follow his own advice of "letting go of his past." Yet, at the end, instead of actually letting go of his past, he discovers that he shouldn't let go of the past! What? That whole part of the self-help book became pointless!
2) Thornton's character was so hated, though it was acted well, that the ending was less than desired. Who cares if he makes his mom happy? He's a douche! The whole point of the movie (breaking up the couple) ended up not being achieved.
3)Scott's constant failures (Corn eating contest/panties) made him unlikable as well) making the movie a drag.
4) Way too predictable.
5)It seemed like the idea was for a small town (The Cornival.../everyone always at every event together), yet people didn't know who was alive/who was dating who/who had been married to who/that the gym teacher wasn't like. In a small town, that info would travel.
