Review of Mr. Turner (2014) by Mark J — 27 Nov 2014
Timothy Spall does a thoroughly convincing job of playing J.M.W. Turner; a growling, gruff, dour genius of an artist who excels in his career but is less impressive as a human being. While the cinematography is pretty lush, and Spall's BAFTA is in the post (deservedly), it's slightly disappointing to report that Mr.
Turner is too long, too dull and perhaps the most overrated film you will see this year.
