Have you ever noticed that some movies are really, really long, but you don't seem to notice? The Godfather, Gone With the Wind, etc. This movie is not at all like that. It seemed as though I could feel every minute passing (every minute I wasn't sleeping, that is).
I think the great divide in opinion between the critics and the public is very telling. This is an extremely dull, plodding movie (and I typically really like "art" films). No problems with the acting or cinematography.
It is just boring.
