Review of Mr. Turner (2014) by Fabe C — 15 Feb 2015
Part of a Three Film Extravaganza.
Short Review:
Mr. Turner is an utterly sensational, lacking biopic that delves into questions about societal conventions and a single person's drive in life. Legendary cinematographer Dick Pope kills it with his masterpiece, every single frame a work of art in and of itself, full of depth, rich colours and bold negatives. Alongside Timothy Spall's wondrous, unparalleled performance and the screenplay which is oft-times brilliant (but does drag significantly in its final act, which proves detrimental for the final few scenes of the film, where patience is wearing thin). An exceptional picture which, if tightened slightly, would rank amongst some of the finest of 2014.
