Review of Mr. Turner (2014) by Carol S — 23 May 2015
Pass on this one unless you are familiar with Mr. Turner's artwork. The only saving grace of this 2.5 hour movie is the cinematography which mimics the artists works and is done so well that even the casual observer can see the beauty.
Having said that, the script/movie is plodding, at times, confused, shallow and indifferent. Timothy Spall brings out Mr. Turners arrogance and sexism but the movie suffers from an appalling lack of development and shifts back and forth among characters without any real transition.
