Review of Mr. Turner (2014) by Matthew F. J — 28 Oct 2015
Magnificently shot and photographed, the film is a beautiful rendition of the work of a man that could have been perceived either as a prick or a genius, isolated in his own unique vision of the world.
Acted by an impressive cast of actors that have a range of playfulness completely different from the usual Hollywood conventions, I found myself enjoying the acting as much as the visual powerfullness of this outstanding piece of film making.
The length of the film and the apathy of the main character may disturb some viewers. The rather drastic behavior of the main character, Turner himself, can be perceived as either execrable or simply refreshing to see for once a complex human being, behaving with such contradictions.
It is nevertheless a powerful interpretation rather authentic. A great artistic film about a talented artist, in my opinion, the film, weather you enjoy it or not, is for you to see. Personally I found myself lost at sea and enjoying the journey all the way to shores.
