Review of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) by Marissa E — 16 Jun 2008
Jimmy Stewart can do no wrong. This is one of his breakthrough roles, I believe, and another nice Capra-Stewart film. It's a bit sappy at times, but nonetheless a brilliant movie about political corruption and how honesty triumphs.
The ending was a bit abrupt, but I wasn't too bothered by it. I love Jimmy's transition from soft-spoken and awkward to confident and almost fanatical. Though I did get bored of the government talk and all that political stuff.
