Review of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) by Jack N — 01 Jan 2009
Still topical and inspiring story about one man facing down corruption and graft through idealism and force of will. Some might assume it's overly sappy but with all Capra films Mr. Smith in fact has a surprising dark side that comes through in the story and the trials the protagonist goes through.
A fine film I cannot recommend highly enough starring two of the greatest actors of any age, James Stewart and Claude Rains.
